Watch the message
Our first Sunday in Jesus House started the way only God could write it: a room so full that stewards asked members to give up their seats for guests. Then Dr. David Adeosun took us to the story of Joseph, and to a truth every one of us needs this week.
Nothing in the story was wasted
Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, falsely accused and forgotten in prison. Years later he stood before the same brothers and said:
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Jesus walked the same road. Falsely accused, crucified and laid in a tomb, He was raised and given all authority in heaven and on earth. The cross was not God's Plan B. It was His purpose from day one.
That is the sovereignty of God. The pit, the prison, the betrayal, even the potholes, barriers and disappointments in your life, can all be woven into His plan for your good.
Our story became His story
Pastor shared how a brand new car, given to him as a gift, was stolen from his driveway one Friday morning. The insurance company replaced it with a newer model with zero kilometres on it. What the enemy meant for evil, God turned for good.
The church's journey tells the same story: a hotel that asked us to leave after three weeks because our hallelujah was too loud, a hall we could not use on holidays, a rent that doubled overnight, seasons of opposition, worship online through COVID, and partner churches who welcomed us with open arms. The more we were pushed, the more God multiplied us. Today we worship in a home of our own.
And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.
Three things to carry into your week
- Trust the plan. Name one disappointment you are carrying and pray Romans 8:28 over it: all things work together for good to them that love God.
- Hold on through the night. If you are in a season of tears, remember Psalm 30:5: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
- Say thank you. Appreciation is the culture of the Kingdom. Thank someone this week who stood with you when it was hard.
Where God plants you, nothing can uproot you. Whatever the enemy has said, God has the final say, and it will turn out for your good.
